Activities Beyond the Beach

Cannes has something to appeal to holidaymakers of all ages. Family visitors will find a great variety of attractions to fill their days, including natural features and purpose-built manmade highlights.

The beach is the city’s fail-safe for families, and whether you benefit from the use of a private stretch or join the masses in the public areas, you can be sure that the golden sands and blue Mediterranean waters will provide long hours of entertainment.

There are private beaches owned by hotels that charge exorbitant amounts to use them if you are not a guest. However, the public beaches, which are given a three-sun rating by Michelin, are more than adequate for family visitors and ideal locations for little ones to enjoy long days of sun, sand and sea. Boulevard de la Croisette’s beaches are the busiest, but quieter strips can be found on the west side of the city.

Playing host to the Cannes International Film Festival is Palais des Festivals et des Congress. This place also houses a convention centre where events are hosted all round the year. Also found here is the Allees des stars which displays the hand imprints of famous Hollywood moguls. The picture postcard location of Le Suquet with its winding streets, small eateries and shops is the ideal place to indulge in a stroll. Playing host to the endless stretches of luxury boats and yachts of the rich and famous holidaying in Cannes is the Vieux port. Adding the element of adventure for children is the small safari park of Parc zoologique de Frejus. Shopping destinations are scattered all around Cannes. Famous for its chocolates, pastries and bakery delights is rue d’Antibes. Lining the roads of La Croisette are designer boutiques and luxury shops. The old town is the perfect destination to shop and scout for perfect souvenirs to take back home with you. Located about 16km away from Cannes is Grasse, clearly the perfume hub of the world.
